Archer’s Robin-chats

The Archer’s Robin-chats (Cossypha archeri) – also known as Archer’s Ground Robins, Archer’s Robins or Olive-flanked Ground Robins – are endemic to the following African countries: Burundi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda and Uganda.

Their preferred habitats are subtropical or tropical moist montanes and high-altitude shrubland.

Subspecies and Distribution:

  • Cossypha archeri archeri (Sharpe, 1902) – Nominate Race
    • Range: Southwestern Uganda; eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, western Rwanda and Burundi.
  • Cossypha archeri kimbutui (Prigogine, 1955)
    • Range: Mount Kabobo in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.
