The Brown Skua (Stercorarius antarctica) is also known as the Antarctic Skua, Southern Great Skua, Southern Skua, or Hākoakoa (Māori).
Distribution / Range
This seabird breeds in the sub-Antarctic and Antarctic zones and moves further north when not breeding.
It hybridizes with the South Polar and Chilean Skuas.
Diet / Feeding
It feeds on fish (often via kleptoparasitism – stealing prey from another), small mammals, scraps, chicks, eggs and carrion.
