Fearful Owl (Nesasio solomonensis)

The Fearful Owl (Nesasio solomonensis) is a rare, medium-sized owl endemic to the Solomon Islands, where it is found n tall lowland or hill forests and is generally seen no more than 800 meters above sea level

Description:

The Fearful Owl is mostly mottled brown with deep ochre underparts and blackish streaks. It has a rufous facial disk and distinct white eyebrows. The inner edge of the facial disk is also white.

Similar Species:

It resembles the Solomon Hawk Owl which is slightly smaller and more slender.
