The Grey-backed Camaropteras (Camaroptera brevicaudata) are warblers found in Africa south of the Sahara Desert.
Description
They measure about 11.5 inches or 30 cm in length – from top of the head to the tip of the short, cocked tail.
The upper plumage is grey and below they are whitish grey.
The wings are olive-colored. Males and females look alike. Juveniles can be identified by their paler yellow chest.
These small birds generally remain well hidden in dense cover.
Diet / Feeding
Their main diet consists of insects.
Nesting / Breeding
They make their nests out of grasses and large leaves and place them in concealed locations in bushes. The average clutch consists of two to three eggs.
Calls / Vocalizations
Their calls are described as a whining sheee……sheee, and the song as a crisp twik twik twik twik twik.
