The Grey-crowned Yellowthroats (Geothlypis poliocephala) are found in the United States, as well as Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua and Panama.

It inhabits subtropical or tropical moist shrubland and heavily degraded former forest.

Grey-crowned Yellowthroats are usually seen in pairs, and do not associate with other species.

Their breeding habitat tend to be marshes and other wet areas with dense low vegetation. The average clutch consists of two eggs that are laid in a lined cup nest low in grass or rank vegetation.

They feed on a range of insects usually captured in dense vegetation.
