The Grimwood’s Longclaws (Macronyx grimwoodi) are found in the following African countries: Angola, Democratic Republic of the Congo and Zambia. They live in subtropical or tropical seasonally wet or flooded lowland grassland.

They are ground-feeding insectivores and ground nesters, laying up to four speckled eggs.

They are named for their unusually long hind claws, which are thought to help in walking on grass.
