TheLittle Ravens (Corvus mellori) are found across southeastern Australia from southern South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales. They inhabit scrub, agricultural areas and grazing pasture.
This species used to be considered conspecific (one and the same species) with the Australian Raven, and was only separated in 1967, based mostly on vocal differences.
Breeding / Nesting
Little Ravens often nest in a loose colony of up to fifteen pairs.
Diet
Little Ravens feed on more vegetable matter than other ravens, but is believed to be omnivorous when opportunity arises.
Calls / Vocalizations
Their calls are described as“kar-kar-kar-kar” or “ark-ark-ark-ark”.
