Paradise Tanagers

The Paradise Tanager (Tangara chilensis) is a member of the Thraupidae family that occurs naturally in South America.

Description

This brilliantly colored, medium-sized tanager measures between 13.5 and 15cm in length.

It has light green head, sky blue underparts and black upper body plumage. The beak and legs are black.

Distribution

They are fairly common and widespread in the South American countries of Venezuela, Peru, Colombia and Brazil, as well as the upper parts of the Amazon.
