The Pheasant Pigeon (Otidiphaps nobilis ) is native to New Guinea, where it is primarily found in the rainforests found on hilly and lower mountain areas. Although they also inhabit lowland areas. This highly secretive species feeds on seeds and fallen fruits, and nests on the ground below trees and bushes. It usually only lays one egg which is incubated for about 4 weeks before hatching.
