The Rosy-throated Longclaws (Macronyx ameliae) – also known as the Rosy-breasted Longclaws – are endemic to the the following African countries: Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

They inhabit subtropical or tropical seasonally wet or flooded lowland grassland.
They are ground-feeding insectivores and ground nesters, laying up to four speckled eggs.
They are named for their unusually long hind claws, which are thought to help in walking on grass.
