The Sandy Scops Owl (Otus icterorhynchus) – also commonly referred to as Cinnamon Scops-owl – occurs naturally in Africa.

Recognized Subspecies and Ranges

  • Otus icterorhynchus icterorhynchus (Shelley, 1873) – Nominate Race
    • Range: Liberia, Ivory Coast and Ghana.
  • Otus icterorhynchus holerythrus (Sharpe, 1901)
    • Range: Southern Cameroon, northern Congo and northern and eastern parts of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. They could possibly occur in northern Gabon.
