The Short-tailed Paradigallas, Paradigalla brevicauda, are found in the mountain forests of New Guinea.
Description
The medium-sized Short-tailed Paradigallas measures about 23cm in length. This bird of paradise has a black plumage, a slender black bill and bright yellow and blue wattles in front of each eye.
Males and females mostly look alike; except the female is smaller than the male and has a duller plumage and smaller wattles.
The Short-tailed Paradigalla resembles the related Long-tailed Paradigalla, but can be identified by the smaller size, shorter tail feathers and absent red on the wattles.
Diet / Feeding
They mostly feed on fruits, seeds and insects.
