Distribution
The Snowy-browed Nuthatch (Sitta villosa) is a non-migratory songbird which is native to China, N. Korea and parts of Russia. It is a vagrant in S. Korea. Its population is estimated to be less than 7000. Still, it is fairly common in China, just not at high densities.
Habitat
It dwells in the temperate forests of these Asian countries.
Description
A tiny bird, the Snow-browed is only 12 cm (4.75 in) in length.
Its small, upturned bill is blue, and its crown has a narrow, black, rounded patch with white stripes on either side of it. The underparts are a rufous-orange color, with bright rufous undertail coverts. The upper tail coverts are white; these are difficult to view when searching among the trees. The upperparts are a bluish-grey.
Feeding
Like most Nuthatches, the Snowy-browed feeds on insects, nuts and seeds.
