Sokoke Scops Owl (Otus ireneae)

The Sokoke Scops Owls (Otus ireneae) are endemic to Kenya and Tanzania in Africa.

The greatest population of this species of owl is in the Cynometra-Manilkara forest.

They are also found in the Afzelia-Cynometra forest.

Description

The Sokoke Scops Owl is the smallest scop owl of the Otus genus. It can grow up to 16 to 18 cm and can weigh up to 50 grams.

The plumage can be either grey or rufous-brown.

Diet / Feeding

Sokoke Scops Owls mostly feed on various insects.
