The White-breasted Whistler (Pachycephala lanioides) -also known as White-bellied Whistlers or Shrike-like Thickheads – are endemic to Australia, where they occur in subtropical or tropical mangrove forests.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- Pachycephala lanioides lanioides (Gould, 1840) – Nominate Form
- Range: Northern Western Australia, along the coast of western Kimberley from south of Admiralty Gulf south to the Eighty Mile Beach.
- Pachycephala lanioides carnarvoni (Mathews, 1913)
- Range: Along the Pilbara coast from the Eighty Mile Beach south to Carnarvon, in northwestern Australia.
- Pachycephala lanioides fretorum (De Vis, 1889)
- Occurs naturally in extreme northeastern Western Australia (specifically the Cambridge Gulf) and along the coast of Northern Territory (including the islands of Bathurst, Melville and Groote Eylandt) east to southwestern Cape York Peninsula (northwestern Queensland).
