The White-throated Magpie-Jay (Calocitta formosa) is a large Central American jay that occurs naturally in Pacific-slope thornforest from Jalisco, Mexico to Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
These noisy, gregarious birds often travel in flocks.
The White-throated Magpie-Jay hybridizes in Jalisco with Black-throated Magpie-Jay, with which it forms a superspecies. (*Superspecies are closely related species with non-overlapping distributions; they are thought to have evolved from the same species).
