Guineafowl General Information
The White-breasted Guineafowl (Agelastes meleagrides) occurs naturally in subtropical West African forests of Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
Thismedium-sized bird measures up to 45cm in length including its long black tail. It is mostly terrestrial foraging on the ground for seeds, berries, termites and small animals.
The plumage is mostly black except for the small, bare red head, white chest, greenish brown bill and greyish feet.
Males and females look alike, although females tend to be slightly smaller than the males.
