The Mount Goliath Parrot (Psittacella brehmii intermixta) is native to the Snow Mountains, Weyland Mountains, Mt. Goliath, Western New Guinea. This species is listed as endangered and is, therefore, a protected species (Cites II).
Description:
They look similar to the Brehm’s Parrots (brehmii), although it is larger and the breast and abdomen are much more yellowish. Its head is paler and the back, rump and upper tail-coverts are black. Each feather displays a broad yellowish-green edging.
The female looks similar to the male, but her breast is black with pale yellow edging to each feather. The yellow band to sides of neck is absent and her abdomen is more yellowish than that of the nominate form ( Brehm’s Parrot).
The average length is 10 ins (26 cm) , with a wing span of 5 – 5.5 ins (125 – 138 mm).
