Psittacella / Tiger Parrots
Description:
As Modest Parrots (modesta), but generally slightly darker; more disinct yellow collar to nape; head and throat dark greyish-brown.
Female as modesta, but with darker head; some birds with variable yellowish tinge to nape.
These parrots average 5.5 inches or 14 cm in length.
Distribution:
They can be found in the northern slopes of Snow Mountains, Western New Guinea, Central Papua New Guinea – Note: birds from Mount Hagen and Mount Giluwe possibly belong to an as yet undescribed subspecies … CITES II – Endangered Species
