Short-billed Black Cockatoos

The Short-billed Black Cockatoos Calyptorhynchus latirostris – also known as Large Black Cockatoos or Carnaby’s Black-Cockatoos – is endemic to south-western Australia. They are endangered in their natural habitat.

Description:

The general plumage is black with white tail feathers and cheek patches.

Diet:

Their main diet consists of seeds and larvae.

Training and Behavioral Guidance:

As this species is rare and at risk of extinction, every effort should be made to place any eligible captive short-billed black cockatoos into a well-managed breeding program to ensure their survival.
